Creative Inspiration

So true—I always say—if it wasn’t for the last minute, nothing would get done.  Creativity cannot be forced, but you can prime the pump. One of my favorite ways to do that is to peruse the Internet and all its offerings. I have literally Googled, “Beautiful Pictures” before, wherein a flood of fabulous images from all over the globe filled my screen and my soul. I “liked” a Facebook page that sends me daily creative inspiration: MyModernMet.com shares incredible art from people all over the world. Here is a sample of some of the stuff from the last week.

Artist Tigran Tsitoghdzyan was first exposed to oil paints at the tender age of five and quickly adopted the art of painting, perfecting his skills in his youth. The time and effort the Armenia-born painter, who currently lives and works in New York, has put into honing his craft has certainly paid off, allowing him to not only paint hyperrealistic renditions of people, but to peer into their souls with a few masterful layering techniques. Tsitoghdzyan’s painting titled Mirror is especially effective at exhibiting this type of artistic translucency. – Pinar, MyModernMet blogger

This photomontage images by photographer Bob Egan are a sea of nostalgia. The photographer is inspired by all kinds of historical pop culture events and, referring to himself as a “pop culture/rock and roll detective,” Egan tracks down locations across mainly New York City to visually recreate various moments. Specifically in this series, the photographer is influenced by original vinyl covers of popular musicians. Based on a ton of research and investigation, he identifies where an album cover photo was taken, visits the location, and then uses Photoshop to merge the old cover images with new snapshots of each place. – Katie Hosmer, MyModernMet blogger

If you can’t get enough of those clever street painting illusions, you’re going to love this. To promote the release of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (which opens Friday, July 20 for the US and the UK), this awesome 3D street art has been unveiled in Madrid, Spain.  – Alice, MyModernMet blogger

Next time, instead of waiting for last-minute panic to inspire you, wander over to mymodernmet.com and let them give you a little spark for the imagination. Do you have any sites that are your go to for motivation or inspiration?
