“It’s October 3rd”

Funny Friday: “It’s October 3rd”

“On October 3rd he asked me what day it was…it’s October 3rd

Just about every Millennial will be making (or already has made) this joke today, in honor of the much-loved 2004 comedy Mean Girls. What was once just a regular day in October is now celebrated as unofficial Mean Girls Day, so in honor of October 3rd, here are a few other things that have been made famous by Hollywood for today’s Funny Friday.

Magnolia Bakery (Sex and the City)

Nothing goes better with gossip than a good cupcake. Magnolia bakery’s brief appearance in an early episode of the famous HBO show gave the bake shop unprecedented publicity, and was even included on the Sex and the City bus tour.

April 25th (Miss Congeniality)

Another innocent date made famous by a movie! I do agree with Miss Rhode Island’s thought process though; it’s not too hot and not too cold.

Festivus (Seinfeld)

Ok, so Festivus was a creation of George’s father on Seinfeld, but this replacement for Christmas is widely known. If you’re interested in learning more or even buying your own Festivus pole to air your grievances, the Internet is ready for you.

Air Mag Shoes (Back to the Future II)

In the 1989 movie, power laces were part of everyday reality in 2015. Luckily, all Back to the Future had their dreams come true as Nike is re-releasing their 2011 replica of the shoe to include the famous self-tying laces. The DeLorean time machine and hoverboard are sold separately.

Clemenza’s spaghetti sauce (The Godfather)

My dad loves The Godfather movies, and my mom loves to cook, so this sauce is a staple in our house. The commentary for the movie explains that in case the movie was a flop, this scene was included so the audience could at least go home and make authentic Italian spaghetti sauce. So thanks Hollywood for making dull things like October 3rd and spaghetti sauce exciting.
