CHICAGO (October 31, 2013)–Educating audiences about the importance of organ donation through humor is no easy feat. That’s why Gift of Hope Organ & Donor Tissue Network tapped Chicago-based, advertising agency, The San Jose Group to develop and produce its fully integrated campaign earlier this summer. Under the theme “At the Opera,” the 30 and 60-second spots demonstrated the ease and convenience of online [organ and tissue] donor registration. Straying from the emotional and sentimental “call to action” typically used in broaching sensitive topics, the TV commercial has been recognized by the International Academy of the Visual Arts with a silver honor during its International Davey Awards program which celebrates big ideas generated by advertising firms.
“This campaign served as a new approach to an established, important topic many people simply aren’t aware of,” said George L. San Jose, president and chief creative officer, of The San Jose Group. “Our ultimate goal was to capture the attention of audiences outside the typical organ donation message. This humbling recognition validates our creative team and client’s commitment to thinking outside the box.”
The San Jose Group’s Gift of Hope commercial joins the Davey Awards’ prestigious circle of winners which includes top brands such as Audi of America, Inc., Ben & Jerry’s, and Tory Burch.
