Paul to head up The San Jose Group’s Agency Pharma Accounts

CHICAGO (December 16, 2008) – Ellen Paul recently joined The San Jose Group Hispanic marketing communications agency as a group account director, heading up existing pharmaceutical client AstraZeneca’s Symbicort, Saroquel and saxagliptin advertising and strategic planning, and Abbott and Baxter’s account management and tactical summit development. Paul is also working to bring in new business in the category.

Paul’s hits to date include the Symbicort Hispanic market launch, including an eight-page cover wrap on People en Español and a national television spot. As the Symbicort account director, she also helped create efficiencies among the dozen sister agencies – the rest are all general market –on behalf of AZ.

Outside of pharma clients, Paul oversees a team of four San Jose Group staffers on the American Family Insurance advertising account.

Previously at Discovery Chicago, a Publicis agency, she oversaw all regulatory submissions for Abbott, Amgen, Baxter, sanofi-aventis, and Takeda. From 2003 through 2005, Paul headed up continuing medical educational campaigns for Eli Lilly and events for Kyphon (now Medtronic).

Paul has a B.A. from North Central College (Ill.) and an editorial certificate from the University of Chicago. An adjunct faculty member at Northern Illinois University, she’s authored numerous continuing medical education papers for various clinical journals.
