SJG Speaks About The Nueva Latina At Multicultural Conference

CHICAGO (June 21, 2009) — Recently, The San Jose Group’s EVP, Jennifer Woods, was in the company of marketing executives from top corporations as a guest speaker at DePaul University’s multicultural marketing summit, Into the Core. Other speakers who participated came from companies including Abbott, ConAgra, Ford, Macy’s, and Walgreens. During a session on Noveau Hispanic Markets, Woods focused on the Nueva Latina and its significance in the market.

“The Nueva Latina is the perfect example of a bigger trend in our industry,” said Jennifer Woods, EVP of SJG. “She represents a bilingual and bicultural segment of the Hispanic population that is increasingly important, and we are throwing out all conventional wisdom when we think about how to reach her.”

As a bicultural segment of the Hispanic population, the Nueva Latina leads a lifestyle that influences more than 23 million people in the Hispanic market. Woods discussed the growing power of the Nueva Latina and featured her as an example of a larger theme throughout the summit–the evolution of multicultural marketing as the general market becomes the multicultural market.

“We are excited to embrace the changing role of Hispanic marketing,” added Woods. “It’s refreshing to see the consensus among marketers who recognize the power of the multicultural consumer.”
