SYMBICORT breathes easy with new Hispanic agency

CHICAGO (October 22, 2008) — SYMBICORT®, AstraZeneca’s prescription brand indicated for long-term control of asthma, recently began working with Hispanic marketing communications agency The San Jose Group (SJG). SJG will lead strategic planning and oversee a group of general market agencies in executing Hispanic programs. The initiatives are SYMBICORT’s first efforts targeting this key segment.

“Since its launch last year, SYMBICORT has been a proven innovator, and the brand is now applying that same exciting approach to the Hispanic market,” said Jim Legg, vice president of client service for SJG. “This is a powerful way to maximize our collective assets.”

SJG is leading efforts to build a Hispanic consumer engagement platform to allow multiple points of interaction with the brand. The campaign will aim to inspire and motivate Hispanic asthma sufferers to take control of their severe asthma. SJG’s integrated communications program for SYMBICORT will include television, print, interactive, and other components.

Prescription SYMBICORT is an asthma-controller medicine for the long-term maintenance treatment of asthma. SYMBICORT combines two medicines to help control inflammation and constriction day and night, and starts to open airways within 15 minutes. Taking SYMBICORT twice a day, as prescribed by a doctor, can provide patients with lasting asthma control so they can return to doing everyday things they enjoy – with fewer interruptions.
