Crying Man Kleenex

Fun Friday: Where’s the Kleenex?

Guys, I have a confession to make. As a grown man, this isn’t easy to say. My tear ducts have been doing odd things lately: some sort of liquid drips out, and these little bits of warm, salty water fall down my cheeks. It usually comes with some sort of strong emotion inside of me. It’s the weirdest thing. Okay, I’ll admit it. I’ve been crying. I’ve been crying like a baby, and it’s all YouTube’s fault. I know I’m not supposed to admit this. Holding back tears is the number one unwritten rule of grown men, followed by always let your chest hair run wild and never wash your jeans. Two out of three will have to do, because apparently the latest trend in viral videos isn’t posting sad content, but rather videos so adorable, moving or emotionally charged that they somehow reach into our grown man soles and squeeze out water that’s been built up for ten years. It’s quite a relief actually. I think I could get used to this.

Today I’d like to highlight a few of my favorite “tear-inducing” videos that have been circulating around the web these days. They’re the kind that you could watch over and over again and still not keep it together. If you start to feel some sort of emotion when watching them, here are a couple tips to keep the tears down. First, think of that time you led your high school football team in receiving yards. Second, bang your elbow against the desk to distract your attention. And third, imagine Chuck Norris pile-driving wooden boards to their demise as DMX barks like a dog. Be careful with these tips; you don’t want to get dry, itchy eyes–that will cause tears too. Oh, who am I kidding? You’re going to cry no matter what. You’re going to wail like a newborn baby. When you’re ready, grab a box of Kleenex, make sure nobody important is nearby and enjoy your man-sobbing.
