Funny ’90s Flashback Friday

This was an excellent week to be a ’90s kid. Okay, every week is a great week to be a Millennial, as far as I am concerned (I may be biased). Generation Y also happens to be one of the most sought after group of consumers as companies release advertisements and products specifically targeting these ’90s kids. So this Funny Friday, why not explore some happenings in pop culture this week that had Millennials flashingback to the ’90s.

T-U-R-T-L-E POWER
Whether you were Michelangelo or April on the playground, if you are a ’90s kid, you’re looking forward to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) movie. The trailer debuted late last week, but let’s be honest, excitement carried into this week. Johnny Knoxville, star of MTV’s Jackass (a staple for Millennials), will be the voice for Leonardo.

“There’s far to much to take in here.”
The Australian cast of The Lion King sang music from the 1994 classic Disney film of the same title on a plane…and it went viral. Oh to be on that plane! The only improvement I would have made was to hold that child in the aisle up in the air at the end.

Topanga!
While ’90s kids had plenty to enjoy this week, my favorite moment had to be Samuel L. Jackson Boy Meets World  Slam Poetry on the Tonight Show. Hilarious.

Is anyone else as excited as I am about the Girl Meets World spinoff coming to Disney Channel this summer? It will be interesting to see Cory and Topanga take on parental duties and go through similar situations the elder Mr. and Mrs. Matthews underwent. Though the show may be aimed at a younger generation, nostalgia will surely drive Millennial viewership. Personally, I am excited for the potential cameos like Uncle Eric, Aunt Morgan (either one), ex-bully/ gentle giant Frankie, Minkus and, of course, Mr. FEE-HEE-HEE-HEE-HEENAY.

She graduated with a BS in Advertising and Public Relations from Northern Arizona University. She bleeds blue and orange, or red, or blue and red, depending on the season. Kristi spends her free time cheering on her Chicago teams, volunteering and exploring different neighborhoods. She also enjoys snowboarding, mixology and writing, but avoids doing them all at once (snow patrol tends to frown on that).[/author_info] [/author]
