Duke Duchess and Prince of Cambridge Memes

Funny Friday: Magical Blessings of the Week in Memes

Have you been hiding under a rock this past week? In case you have, I’d like to shed some light on a couple hot topics you’ve probably missed out on.

Our Space in the way guy During a trip to Disney World earlier this month, Nick Landis, 24, proposed to his girlfriend, Erika Boone, 21 on July 9. This proposal wasn’t just a memorable moment for, Landis and Boone; it also became memorable to many people online. While a Disney staffer was taking photos of the moment, a rando (unidentified man) who tried to steer clear of the photo and make his way out of the shot failed to do so. After Landis uploaded the photo to Reddit, writing, “Tried to get a photo of our proposal…nailed it!” The post got 32,700 upvotes and 1,500 comments in 16 hours! The rando became an online superstar known as, “In the Way Guy.” Best photobomb ever? Yeah, duh. “In the Way Guy” has been photoshopped into many other iconic events, such as The Last Supper, moon landing, Ann Margret and Elvis Presley on the set of Viva Las Vegas, Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs and much more.

Maybe The Beatles would have been more appreciative of “In the Way Guy” on their Abbey Road cover…NOT.

In more popular news, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and Prince William left St. Mary’s Hospital in central London with their newborn baby on Tuesday after Middleton went into labor early Monday morning. George Alexander Louis who is third in line to the British Throne isn’t even a week old and is already all over the internet. Heck, he was all over everywhere before he was even born. From newspapers to late night TV shows and social media chatter, all the hype was about the #RoyalBaby. As my social media feeds were flooded with royal baby news, my attention was geared towards the jokes rather than the minute-by-minute updates for the big news. When someone gets a lot of publicity, what happens next? Memes…and plenty of them. Many photos surfaced of how the royal family could have showed the world a first glimpse at their new bundle of joy. Personally, I think The Lion King is the best. Just look at that lil’ guy, he just can’t wait to be king! Or what if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to follow in Michael Jackson’s footsteps? Inappropriate? Maybe. But still funny!

Have you seen any funny memes lately? If so, share them with us!
