Media Bloopers and Mess Ups

Funny Friday: Mess Ups Happen on the News

Every day, hundreds of news anchors go on live television to deliver the day’s headlines. The pressure they face to look good on camera and deliver the stories without messing up can be frightful. However, no one is perfect, and—like everyone else in the world—news anchors are humans; mess ups happen and life goes on. When accidents do happen, they should be celebrated, not judged (that’s my belief, anyways). Even first timers mess up, no matter how much preparation they have gone through before actually going on camera for their premiere broadcast. When the cameras start rolling, there’s no telling what can happen.

In the wise words of Helen Thomas, American author and news service reporter who was a member of the White House press corps and opinion columnist, “When you’re in the news business, you always expect the unexpected.”

Well said, Helen!

Today, go on and celebrate Friday with laughter—check out the bloopers in the video below.
