Looking Back, For Old Times’ Sake
“Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?” (Should we just forget the past)
I think not.
Before we bring a new year in, let’s take a look back at the one we’re leaving. As 2012 draws to a close, we’ve got a lot to reflect on– not just personally or locally, but globally. 2012 brought the good (the first double legged amputee, Oscar Pistorius, competing at the London Olympics, Michael Phelps making Olympic history again, and the successful Mars Curiosity landing), the bad (Shootings in Aurora and Newtown, casualties at the Gaza Strip and Benghazi, and the Costa Concordia disaster) and the ugly (political debates, super storm Sandy and Gangnam Style fan videos).
While 7 billion people live their own lives and reflect on their own stories, they can also remember the the events from the video below (by Jean-Louis Nguyen) which unified the human race for brief moments throughout the year.
“We’ll take a cup o’kindness yet for auld lang syne.”
Happy New Year!
What’s your most vivid memory from 2012?
