The Friday Night Lights of Lollapalooza 2012
After a record breaking summer, filled with smoldering heat and uncomfortable humidity, I was a bit skeptical about seeing this show. The idea of standing among a larger than life crowd, in the heat of a Chicago summer, was something I really didn’t want to endure, but to be perfectly honest, every last bead of sweat and every last flash of heat exhaustion was entirely worth it. This level of discomfort is a common characteristic of shows like these and it encapsulates the entire experience making it that much more memorable. After speaking with many devoted fans, everyone agreed that Lorin’s set at Lolla was the biggest and one of the best he has ever put on.
Friday night in Chicago, Bassnectar lit up the entire city with the lights and sounds from his set and if you weren’t already at the Lollapalooza show, you were trying to find any way of getting in.
There aren’t many videos posted on the net from the show, most likely due to fans still trying to recover from Friday night (still!), but I was able to find a couple that I’d like to share with you.
I apologize for the shaky cams, but this will give you a better idea of how it went down on Friday night! Enjoy, my fellow BASSHEADS.
