Trending News Monday: Remebering Angelou and Davis

Over the past week, the world has had some notable losses. This Trending News Monday, we’ll look at two women who left behind great legacies.

Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou, another national treasure who taught us all about living an honest life and how to become who we are, passed away this past week. The famed author of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which was once required reading for most of America’s youth, Angelou has shaped the minds and hearts of all Americans. At age 86, Angelou left this world after suffering heart problems. She passed away in her home in Winston-Salem, NC, after living through countless hardships, sharing memorable stories and blazing a trail for women and African American writers. Angelou will forever be immortalized through her literary contributions as well as her positive impacts on American society.

Ann B. Davis

Ann B. Davis, known for her role the Brady family’s house keeper on The Brady Bunch, passed away this weekend at age 88. After falling and hitting her head, Ann never regained consciousness, and she is thought to have died of a subdural hematoma sustained in the fall. Although probably best known for her role as Alice in The Brady Bunch, Davis won 2 Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actress in her role on the Bob Cummings show. Having helped raise the Brady children on screen as their loving care taker, Davis effectively helped raise American families, instilling good morals and life lessons in each of us.
