So, without further adieu, this Two-for-Tuesday we’re highlighting two trending topics.

WILL ABERCROMBIE’S ANTI-BULLYING EFFORTS HELP ITS BRAND IMAGE?

Back in 2006, Abercrombie & Fitch’s CEO, Mike Jeffries stated, “We go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely.”

The company received further backlash for burning damaged clothing instead of donating them to the poor—efforts made by the company to keep their brand exclusionary.

Seven years later, a social media uproar that resulted from the resurrected interview coupled with a 17% drop in profits forced Abercrombie to face the controversy. Last week, they announced they will provide college scholarships to students who have combated bullying and succeeded academically.

However, the social media audience remains skeptical of Abercrombie’s true intentions. One twitter user asks is Abercrombie doing “Too little, too late!?” Another called the anti-bullying campaign “poor crisis management” and “total hypocrisy.” “Abercrombie apologizes? Sincere or a scheme to get back its lost supporters?” another user questioned.

SPURS AHEAD IN SERIES, CAN JAMES LEAD HEAT TO A WIN AT HOME?

The San Antonio Spurs Game 5 win over the Miami Heat (114-104) on Sunday night put them one game away from the NBA Championship title.  (Check out Game 5 fan reactions on Twitter). The Spurs put up a dominating performance, shooting over 60% (only the fourth team in NBA Finals history to do so). Additionally, San Antonio’s Danny Green broke the NBA Finals record for most three-pointers in a championship series– he has 23 going into tonight’s game. But defeating the Heat is no easy feat.

Earlier this season, the Heat went on a 27-game winning streak, and the team only lost 16 games during the regular season. The NBA MVP, LeBron James, will have to lead Miami to two straight wins in order to clinch back-to-back titles.

Six years ago, James lost his first NBA title to the Spurs. While he is considered by many critics to be the best player currently in the NBA, James has only won one NBA Final. Despite the “villain” persona he acquired after he left Cleveland in 2010, he does have a large fan base. Today, fans are tweeting #Lebronlegacy to show their support for “King James” and the Heat.
