Two Chicago Bands for Tuesday

I don’t know about you, but I like to dive a little deeper than the ever-present (and usually ever-annoying) pop tunes assaulting the airwaves. If you feel the same way, then this post is for you! This Two-for –Tuesday, we’re highlighting two unique Chicago bands to put on your radar. They probably won’t pop up on the radio anytime soon, so be the first to tell your friends about some of the great bands the Chicago music scene has to offer.
MANY PLACES
Many Places is a four-piece band based in the Windy City, and they released their album Another Oath May of last year. Centered around effecting vocalization and lyrics, their songs are comforting and calming while exploring emotions that we can all relate to at some point or another. This album is raw in the best possible way, and that feeling resonates in the instrumentation (especially the guitar). They recently recorded a Daytrotter Session, a definite milestone for any up-and-coming indie band.
Their song, “Helmet Hug,” is found on their SoundCloud page, along with a few other great tracks.

OUTER MINDS
If you’re a fan of classic psychedelic rock from the ‘60s, Outer Minds is the band for you. Adding a garage feel to the classic reverb of that bygone era, Outer Minds cleverly combines guitar and organs to create their vintage-yet-modern sound. In 2012, they released two albums (a feat in itself!) with two rather distinct effects. Check out these two videos below to get a taste of both of their projects.
