Two for Tuesday: Two must see Series

One of the best Chicagoan attributes is their undying allegiances to their respective sports teams (aside from the random Packer fans who were born and raised in Chicago—they really make no sense). Whether we’re talking baseball, basketball, football or hockey, Chicago has one of the biggest fan bases. Can I get a “Da Bears, Da Bulls, Da Blackhawks” in here?

This week is an especially big one for Chicago sports fans. So, this Two for Tuesday, we’re highlighting two must-see series.

Blackhawks vs. Red Wings: Game 7

Playoff excitement kicked into full gear this May with teams representing Chicago in both the NHL and the NBA. Once the Heat knocked the Bulls out of the NBA post season, Chicago relied on the ‘Hawks to pack the “Madhouse on Madison.” When the Blackhawks fell 3-1 in the series against the Red Wings, it looked as though another game at the United Center would be unlikely this season. However, the Blackhawks bounced back in game five and sealed game six last night to bring the final game of the series back to Chicago.

With the Blackhawk’s record-breaking season on the line, fans will be out of control when Chicago faces off against Detroit for game seven tomorrow at 7 PM.

Cubs vs. White Sox: Crosstown Classic

In case you missed last night’s game—which I’m sure you did since the ‘Hawks were on—the Cubs took the first game in the Crosstown Classic. I’ll attempt to hide my CUBS loyalty and keep this one non-biased (is that possible?). I’m glad Cubs and Sox fans can at least co-exist in this city.

But honestly, one of the best parts about Chicago is that we’re home to not one, but two great MLB teams (even when they’re not winning, fans are still loyal). While we may not always get along (unless you’re one of those weird bisoxuals who roots both ways), when we come together for the Crosstown Classic, it’s all fun and games… until our catchers start duking it out—then all bets are off. Who says only hockey players get to fight?

The teams will play one more game at U.S. Cellular Field tonight at 7:20 PM before continuing the series at Wrigley on Wednesday and Thursday at 1:20 PM. Stay tuned to this series because you never know what’s going to happen.
