Wednesdays with Will: Will’s Top Apps
Now I wouldn’t say I’m the most tech savvy person on the planet, but I feel like I have a good idea about what’s relevant today as a millennial. Here is a screen shot of my most used apps today.
Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare are obviously the most popular/oldest of my social apps. Although, for me, Faebook has taken a back seat to some of the other arising technological gems (like Snapchat and Instagram). These three have become more habitual apps from years of use, and their sparkle has definitely dimmed overtime–maybe because of the new generation of social media and/or that “ new toy effect” has been lost. Either way, I can honestly say my satisfaction has begun to diminish.
Instagram and Snapchat—these two are probably the most used in my app library at the moment taking the most fun aspect of Facebook (pictures) and absolutely making that the main attraction of the media. You will obviously follow your friends and favorite celebrities on Instagram– which then gives you direct integration into Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare from its interface. This saves time by not having to redundantly update/check Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare.
Snapchat is a game changer in itself. If you have never heard of Snapchat, it is an app that allows you to take photos and gives you the option of a time limit of up to 10 seconds. You can draw on your picture and/or write a short caption. Once sent to your friend, the timer begins. The receiver only has those few seconds to view it before it is deleted, never to be seen again…unless you take a screenshot (which in turn informs the sender of your rule breaking). Another edition to this app is it informs you when your photo was delivered and opened. As you can imagine, people are more confident and risqué when sending these timed photos as opposed to a regular photo text.
Convenient, informative and very creative are what makes these apps my most used (and why they are some of the most used apps in general today).
