The Return of the Referees: Nice try replacements, but the pros are taking the field
While the replacement referees have been calling the games since the preseason, insanity took over the gridiron this week; Packers fans whined (I guess I see their point), 49ers fans were in a bind, and everyone else lost their minds. But, alas, the NFL circus has ended; yesterday the referees and the league came to an agreement, sending the replacements one their way, including Shannon Eastin—the first female NFL referee.
With all the professional referees taking the field, now football can officially be underway. But with thirteen weeks left in the regular season and only three teams in the NFL (Texans, Falcons and Cardinals) undefeated, fans have to speculate whether or not the replacement referees have permanently impacted the season with their, dare I say rusty and inexperienced, calls.
